May. 10th, 2011 06:27 am1. Loki is basically Percy Weasley to me. A super-conflicted, morning sunshine turning into a wintery mix of betrayal and treachery in the afternoon Percy Weasley. Also, a natty dresser.
This means that I love him and his manpain a lot.
2. The implications of Loki being pass-offable as an Asgardian in this are fascinating to me because dude, the Frost Giants! They look nothing like Asgardians! And the baby that we see in the movie is totally Frost Giant blue. And it keeps up even after Loki finds out that he's an FG and is outed by Thor. So you have to assume that the Frost Giant blue is Loki's "natural state" and all his little human skin and so forth is magic laid on top or through-and-through shapeshifting, a la the proper original. Can other Frost Giants shapechange in this movie? Is it something from Odin? Has Loki ever seen himself in his "natural" shape" is? Are all Frost Giants capable of badass magic like Loki?
I mean, there is a bit where Thor and Co. are fighting the Frost Giants, and Loki gets froze a bit, and he looks down, and his arm goes back to being what it was. What was the way he explained this to himself afterwards?
All of these things are interesting and painful and metaphorical and I love them a lot.
3. DIDN'T PEOPLE REALIZE THAT THE PUTATIVE MOM WAS ONLY PREGNANT ONCE? Unless they were passed off as . . . twins?
4. I want Loki's adventures on Earth where he learns how to be a natty dresser like you see in the interrogation booth. :D The Hive was suggesting maybe this was because he was living inside the skin of somebody who was a natty dresser. :D I love it. :D

Date: 2011-05-10 04:55 pm (UTC)Loki is this convoluted mess of being smart to the point that no one notices when he requires just as much affection and coddling as his big stupid brother.
2. I love Jam's thoughts on this. Odin is the ultimate troll.
3. I want to blame this on how ridiculous Norse mythology (really, all mythology is at least 90% ridiculous, but Norse especially is a beautiful den of crack. Disguising Thor as a bride but not bothering to shave his beard. Loki's epic rap battle smack down. I can't even.) -- Because otherwise I got nothin'.
Mostly I just want to read a million bits and pieces of Thor and Loki as boys - or Thor trying to woo some lovely dark haired girl who is having none of his nonsense which, look, how does that even happen? It's unthinkable. He asks Loki as much, then: "You know everything! Tell me, what should I do?" And Loki gives him the worst advice ever not because he doesn't know the right things to say (he does) and certainly not because of some confused sense of jealousy (stupid), but because he wants to (he rarely questions his own knee-jerk reactions).
Also: Tom Hiddleston your ability to cry on command is going to ruin me on a fundamental level.

a million bits and pieces of Thor and Loki as boys
No lie, I want so much the movieverse version of Loki cutting Sif's hair off because she doesn't want to be the hot blonde chick that everybody hits on and won't take seriously even though she can END THEM REALLY HARD. So much. I can't even mentally comprehend it.

Date: 2011-05-10 06:15 pm (UTC)auuuuuugh maybe it's a bit like Sleeping Beauty, maybe Odin found a court magician/scientist to gift Loki with the power to maintain the guise, and everything else -- the his capacity as a trickster god, the unintended result of that?
Loki scared to tell his father, the son of a king, a prince, born a freak, a thing, a monster. Too bad there's not Asgardian Professor X.
