Deathly Hallows:
Which is to say that I loved it. Oh my God, I loved it. There are things to complain about -- skipping Pettigrew's death, and Dobby's death scene being a little long, but there was so much to love:
- Visuals of Malfoy Manor, with the incredibly dark and blue-shaded palette and the gates that can be passed through like gas if you are the right person, and the empty rooms and stairways to nowhere and Lucius Malfoy, completely undone, and Narcissa sitting between him and Bellastrix straight as a ramrod with her hair half of each other and the camera on Snape's face when Voledmort says he is killing the professor of Muggle Studies and the snake eating her up feet-first oh my God, it's everything I ever wanted about Death Eaters. Everything.
- The twins. The twins. Oh my God, I dread Part 2.
- THE MULTI-POTTERS. AND FLEUR TELLING BILL TO LOOK AWAY BECAUSE SHE IS UGLY NOW. And the little exchange prior to that where (can I mention how much I love how clearly they show Hermione being the brains of the operations, with Hermione knowing exactly how Harry is going to object, and also, Ron explaining to Harry that they're not dying for him. I felt it in a way I never felt it in the books.)
- REMUS AT THE WEDDING. Remus at the wedding. Remus at the wedding. Remus at the wedding. In charge of the guards, and the way Thewlis communicates command and confidence when out with the guards, and then the moment when he is outlined against the light of the tent, and you see the hesitation, the moment of pause and uncertainty, and just. Remus. Remus. I am so glad they cast Thewlis, and I would watch one million hours of movie about Lupin doing his thing. Making tea. Reading a book while eating. Setting protective charms before going to bed, glancing out the window, and god, I ship him and Tonks so hard.
I'm never going to forgive JK Rowling for killing them both.
- Bellatrix torturing Hermione. Mudblood in the arm with teeth and fingers. I'm predictable, and Emma Watson, nailing the fuck out of being tortured. Bellatrix casts the spell too strong at first. Hermione can't scream. Can't answer. So Bellatrix scales the spell back.
- Harry, Ron, and Hermione on the run through London. Fighting the Death Eaters who dress up as a pair of workmen . Sleeping together in the library because they trust none of the bedrooms, and Ron on the ground between the two of them, and Harry in Sirius's room, fiddling with the bat mobile.

Date: 2010-11-22 01:45 am (UTC)Being out of HP fandom really helps with this, because it means that I can see Harry and Hermione be sweet to each other without gagging on Harmonian nonsense and DRACO'S LITTLE FACE OH MY GOD WHEN HIS DAD WANTS HIM TO ID POTTER without thinking about all the stupid Draco fic I've seen over the years.
I got, like, physically angry the other day reading about some twat on the Internet talking about how he was a "true" fantasy fan, but wanted to know whether he'd like the Harry Potter books. God.
