Being out of HP fandom really helps with this, because it means that I can see Harry and Hermione be sweet to each other without gagging on Harmonian nonsense and DRACO'S LITTLE FACE OH MY GOD WHEN HIS DAD WANTS HIM TO ID POTTER without thinking about all the stupid Draco fic I've seen over the years.
I got, like, physically angry the other day reading about some twat on the Internet talking about how he was a "true" fantasy fan, but wanted to know whether he'd like the Harry Potter books. God.
