So. I was going to do a big "PROOF I READ THINGS BESIDES IRON MAN"" rec post with this, a mind-blowingly perfect and professional mini-comic of Martha Wayne, nee Kane, that [livejournal.com profile] notexotic pointed me towards. And, also, this, which is a log of telegrams sent between Mycroft and Sherlock during Sherlock's post-Reichenbach perambulations. I snagged that from [livejournal.com profile] atrata's del of doom. This is also from that, but. OMG.

GUYS. GUYS. THAT STORY.

Post-movie Tony freaking out about Obadiah. Rhodey and Pepper reacting to Tony's inability to deal. Press conference for one of the two greatest weapons developers in the U.S. is dead. Fourteen year old Tony with robotics notes written down his arm and oh my God, it's so creepy and fucked up and great. Fourteen year old Tony visiting colleges with Obadiah. It's so good and creepy. Have I mentioned creepy? And creepy? And the Tony/Obadiah sex? And the surprise pairing, but not really, except the punchline will make you suck in your breath? And the writing is just sparse, precise, and utterly, utterly convincing. Linen trousers. Cigars. That line of sheer, mind-bending creepy.

Have I mentioned fourteen year old Tony with robotics notes written down his arm? Irish whiskey, not Scotch. And the precision of this author. My God.

I am dead. I am dead of a ruptured kink.

GO TO HELL. DO NOT PASS GO. DO NOT COLLECT $200, BUT YOU DO GET A BIG BUCKET OF WRONG.

God, Iron Man fandom is good to me tonight. Between that fic and the one about CAPTAIN AMERICA spanking Tony in a CAMP IN THE WOODS and then TONY DEEPTHROATING HIM?

HERE by [livejournal.com profile] wired_lizard, and it is so good that my brain melts. I am sure the other Steve/Tony fic she posted today is v. good also, but I know nothing about Civil War, so I cannot appreciate it.

ALSO THIS HAS SPANKING AND DEEP THROATING, TWO OF MY FAVORITE THINGS IN THE WORLD, IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED.

Also, ahahha. TONY. WITH TICKS ON HIM. BECAUSE HE IS NOT CAMPING SAVVY.

*is almost hysterical in glee at the amazingness all around* I mean , omg. Yes. I keep re-reading your fic because I think I have hallucinated elements of how awesome it is -- Steve talking Tony into camping! Tony and his obsessive preparation! Tony and the delayed spanking and the sex and of course, Tony is prepared for assfucking in the wilderness.

But no, it is all there, and I get to the end and just zip up to the beginning again because I cannot get enough of the cracky, and yet oh-so-well-done and plausible amazingness.

Who know that getting checked for ticks could be so wretchedly hot? Jesus. Also, the throwaway reference to camping in 1945 just broke my heart. It probably says something about me that I fell so badly in love with Steve Rogers from reading fanfiction about him, doesn't it? I don't care.

TONY IS ALWAYS PREPARED FOR ASSFUCKING.

*gibbers hysterically* You are a danger, woman. You will inflate my skull until it BURSTS.

Reading fanfiction about him was pretty much how I fell badly in love with Steve Rogers. Well, that and kind of picking my way through comics canon from Civil War and going back from there, and realizing, holy crap, he's WAY more awesome than I thought he could possibly be. (Okay, so maybe I was a little biased there, because my first experience with a patriotic super in the Marvelverse was Captain Britain, who is an ENORMOUS GIT, and I kind of expect Captain America to be the same, only more so, because, y'know, Americans. But he ISN'T. Zomfg.)

And, yeah. There's no way Steve doesn't think of camping as being something you do in the mud, with bombs in the distance and a batch of men who are going to be dead the next day. It's not like he's shell-shocked, he's barely even PTSD-ish except for the occasional dead sidekick spazzout--he's a tough old bird--but, yeah, it's in there, and he's sick of his life taking the fun things away.

I couldn't think of a title for this for the LONGEST TIME, and the filename was just "in which ticks somehow result in smut."

OKAY. SO. When you feel like DYING FROM AWESOME, read THIS. As far as, like, character portraits and sex go, I think it's the BEST Steve/Tony out there. salkdjfalskjdf.

“Like if you showed up there, right in the middle of a board meeting, I would let you do anything you wanted. Let you, god, push me down on that ridiculous table and fuck me, right there. Would you- would you like that?”

Steve was supposed to talk now?

SWEET FUCK. SWEET, SWEET, SWEET FUCKITY FUCK. I almost feel like I shouldn't love something that's basically, you know. Tony and Steve making out in the gym after a sparring match because that shit is predictable, but the characterization! And the sex! And the bit about Tony requiring a Brita water filter!

AND ALSO TONY STARK TALKING DIRTY TO CAPTAIN AMERICA. JESUS.

the filename was just "in which ticks somehow result in smut."

Look, the second you made me find Tony Stark getting checked for ticks ridiculously, obscenely, retardedly hot and funny and hot and oh my God, fucking funny, it was basically over. You were in for skull inflation by me and my little bicycle pump named Abject Fangirl. Throw spanking, deep-throating, dirty talk, and assfucking with the fuckee on top? Oh Jesus, I live on the northern fringe of Deep Tick Country, you understand? We have whitetail deer walking through our back yard like it's Hometown Buffet. My clearest associations with ticks is listening to my mother hunt for oones on my dad's neck. I hate camping.

In no way should anybody be able to have anything vaguely connected to either ticks or camping be even VAGUELY INTERESTING TO ME. And yet, it's 2:30AM, and I'm sitting here writing you a long fandom love letter. You described Tony's voice as muzzy.

God, I love my life so much right now.

IT WORKS. I'm gonna have to wait till tomorrow to read it because I have to be at work at freakin' 8:00 tomorrow. If I did stay up, I imagine something like this would happen:

BOSS: "Why are you sauntering about so sleepily?"
Me: "Oh, sorry, I just stayed up reading porn about superheroes deep-throating in the woods."

NOT TO DISTRACT YOU FROM BEDTIME, BUT.
"Like I said, greatest invention of this decade. He gives a friendly, encouraging pat--well, maybe a bit of a slap. Normally the sort of thing he'd give to somebody's shoulder, but Tony's ass is the closest thing, and if were anybody else he'd worry that he'd mind, but, well, Tony.

"If you do that again," Tony says slowly, "I will blow you so hard you'll be seeing stars for a week."

ahhhhhh! must sleep, but porn is so enticing

That fic got me to read twenty issues of New Avengers this morning. And now I'm 1/4 of the way through another series and thinking about Tony/Cap/Rhodey porn. BEHOLD THE POWERS OF REALLY AWESOME FIC. God.

And Cap thinks of Colbert as being one of the things that people watch on the Internet. XD

Like, Marvel comics wise, the only thing I used to be interested in was X-Men, 1602, and very, very occasionally Spiderman. And then Iron Man came out. Damn you, Jon Favreau and RDJ!

Doesn't Steve know that Colbert would most likely revere him as being only slightly under Jesus Christ in levels of awesome??

As for the Tony/Steve/Rhodey porn, DO EET.

Glad everybody liked it.

By day, an Army journalist. By nights (and weekends, and leave) an apparently much-adored smut-fic writer.

What a strange, /strange/ world.

And anytime anyone wants to tell me I'm sparse, precise, convincing, able to make someone suck in their breath with *words* - I will take it. I will take that shit and /run./

Much-adored doesn't even describe my state of mind right now. I've been looking for that precise kind of creepy, wrong, Tony/Obadiah for so long without any luck. And then, not only did that fic bring it, it was impeccably written. I'd fangirl you for ages just over the detail about Tony writing on himself, followed by the precise mention of the composition books with friction tape.

And then, the writing. OMG. Sparse, precise, and convincing is my golden standard for fic. Plus, it was desperately interesting. After I walked away from the computer, I was still thinking about the notion of Tony in Asia during the two year gap and trying to parse out the implications of how he is, on some deeply fucked and repressed level, telling himself that he's okay with Obadiah and the whole thing.

So here's the question: are future Iron Man fics of yours going on [livejournal.com profile] starkindustries? Or should I friend your LJ?

well, I guess I'll just put them on SI. I probably should dupe them to my LJ, but I am such a friggin' sucker for comments that I put stuff on a community always.

Of course, if you want to friend the LJ, I certainly would be most pleased. And honored.

Do you by any chance have this story saved, if she was okay with her stories being shared? Or do you know if she has a different username? I would really love to read it, it sounds amazing. Just thought i'd ask : )
