Jun. 3rd, 2008 10:46 pmVery easy: Falling in love with Iron Man, the Religious Experience.
Easy: Making a vid of Iron Man to rap-meets-dance-techno-disco-thingy-with-robots.
Hard: Making a vid of Iron Man to banjos and emo folk.
Hardest: Not strangling the woman who was talking through Iron Man and making sarcastic, insulting remarks about how she didn't want to see RDJ pull tubes out of his nose. Shut up, I do.
UNBELIEVABLY CHRISTINGLY, FUCK-A-DUCK DIFFICULT: MAKING A VID TO FUCKING JOHNNY CASH. YOU'D THINK THAT THIS WOULD BE LIKE FALLING OUT OF BED EASY. TONY STARK IS ON A MISSION. GOD SAYS SO. BUT NO. I CANNOT GET BEYOND THE FIRST FIFTY SECONDS OR SO AND THE LAST FORTY SECONDS. THE SONG IS ONLY TWO MINUTES THIRTY-ODD.
...
So, yes, have this instead (13MB, Xvid, reaaaaaaally shitty encode). It's probably funny only to, you know. Me. But it's been a long day, and remember when I was warning you,
dafnap and
gabby_silang, not to encourage me? Indeed.
(And yes, it's supposed to cut out at about a minute. I still had another joke about Obie and the pizza box, but I realized that the abomination should just be put out of its misery. Any sentiment that I am high-minded or intellectual should be put to rest after this, too.)

Date: 2008-06-04 03:18 am (UTC)Or even his cover of "Hurt," but that seems kind of slow paced for a vid.
How I love Mr. Cash.

Date: 2008-06-04 12:28 pm (UTC)Also, my sister and I used to scream, in the little pause that follows the first line and after singing along to said first line, "By falling down the stairs!"
Which is not to say that I don't love Mr. Cash. Or that song, which is probably one of my top ten of all time. I'm just going to finish the vid to "God's Gonna Cut You Down" if it kills me -- the first twenty seconds are, I think, the best vidding I've ever done in my long career of, um, four vids.

Date: 2008-06-04 03:36 am (UTC)Which is totally why I'm leaving a comment. DO YOU UNDERSTAND HOW DELIGHTFULLY UNHEALTHY THIS ALL IS?
Also, I FIRMLY believe that you started out making this with UTMOST sincerity, and then your brain cracked under the strain and went absolutely batshit AND I LOVE YOU ALL THE MORE FOR IT.
(speaking of Rhodey/Tony/Videogames, you've seen this, right?)
Random sidenote: Um. Is it the encode? Or the cam? Or is The Fav looking kind of hot when he's opening that limo door?
It could be the total lack of sleep too, now that I think of it.
Re: WOULDN'T MIND PLAYING SMASH BROS.
Date: 2008-06-04 04:24 am (UTC)OMG, thank you for telling me that's him ... because I kept wondering why Happy was in some of the pictures floating around, looking like he was giving directorly advice. [facepalms] ... and ... [headdesks]
[looks around] Do you people never chat? Because I think we should have an online party sometime soon.
Re: WOULDN'T MIND PLAYING SMASH BROS.
Date: 2008-06-04 02:14 pm (UTC)Especially since Tony is, canon-wise, at MIT during that time. I can imagine that this topic of conversation doesn't, you know, come up for conversation around the water cooler at the Small Arms division of Stark Industries, but Tony is at college. In Massachusetts. And Tony reads as being hard-right war hawk at the beginning of the movie, but man.
Re: WOULDN'T MIND PLAYING SMASH BROS.
Date: 2008-06-04 06:10 pm (UTC)Okay, that did not warrant all caps, because the most important part I can just drop here, re: Iron Man 2:
Billingsley: ...So I think exploring Tony Stark, his father and sort of more of the dark side of Tony, it's a great opportunity.
It's so sad that I'm excited by such a vague detail, I blame all of you for making incredibly fascinated with a character that only appeared in pictures and didn't even have a speaking role, what.
(We might even get more backstory then before! Maybe with a reappearance of ol' Obie! As long as they refrain from casting any weird child actors for Young!Tony --as in: not at all, please don't even bother guys-- I'll be fricking SET.)
I can imagine that this topic of conversation doesn't, you know, come up for conversation...but Tony is at college. In Massachusetts.
And Tony at MIT, probably having a few questions of his own, but fielding them from his colleagues as well, trying to combat his own personal feelings on the issue while simultaneously defending his father against others and oh. I can totally see where he could make that hard turn into the hard right, being literally the youngest kid in your class and everyone using you as a scapegoat to what your father and his friends might be getting up to, and defending him as a means of defending yourself and only managing to make yourself more lonely in the process. Tony, Tony, Tony...

Oh. Shit. Yeah. YEAH. I hadn't thought of that before: maybe Tony does have questions, but he gets so much shit for it that he goes into defensive mode. And shit. SHIT. Which, in a way, explains part of why he might have had a special tie with Rhodey and why an odd couple like them might really have clicked because Rhodey is middle class all the way.
SHIT.

And poor Pepper.
I think I can finally go to bed happy now. And maybe dream of getting a piece of Tony ... or, you know, someone. Hahahaha!

Hahahaa omg. I think you should have left the pizza joke in, personally ('Obie had a piece.. and some of his pizza too'?), but then again I still laugh at 'why did the dead baby cross the road?' jokes, so I don't think I'm really in any position of taste.

Date: 2008-06-04 02:07 pm (UTC)(Also, now that I've gotten a couple under my belt, I'm starting to look at that old Massive Attack - Master and Commander - Hornblower project I was blathering to you about back in the day, and I was re-watching your old vids recently.
I think you do much, much more complicated stuff than I do -- I've had so much good footage that all I need to do is find clean transition points, whereas you have to squeeze every damn last frame because the production values and Ioan Gruffudd's retard expressions, OMG.)
