Hello, newly-friended people! This is just [livejournal.com profile] rhoddlet's non-HP fandom livejournal. It's where I spend most of my time these days, and I've been manually reading your LJ's or logging into another account, but I'm lazy, so I end up missing your posts.

I am glad you friended me because I am far too lazy and always forget to check if you've written any more awesome Hornblower fic.

BTW, have you read the Nick Seafort books? I ask because of your interest in HORNBLOWER IN SPACE, and well, they certainly are!

AHAHA. No, I haven't, and I'll have to remedy that. I mean, how could I not with this review on Amazon?

First, let me point out that the book definitely has a homoerotic theme. From page 296-97:

"I moved closer to the fire, watching my handsome midshipman's face as he chatted with Amanda. Odd feelings stirred, recalling Jason, eons past."
HELLO, BOOK GAY! (And I should add that I'm incredibly flattered that you'd even read my Hornblower fic. It's so book-centric, and I know you're a Kennedy girl.)

OH YOU MUST READ IT. It's the Hornblower crack. Also, hunky midshipmen with ridiculously chiselled jaws all over the covers. The most homoerotic extract, IMO, has been quoted for your delectation here.

And I love book!canon as much as TV!canon, though I tend to read mostly in the latter because MMM KENNEDY OTP. I'm just about starting to get with the Hornblower/Bush, and your stuff is just like <333333 to me.

AHAHAHAHAH. I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT THAT POST. And yes. GAY. GAY GAY GAY. OMG. Recruiting poster! Is the series written from the POV of the Pellew-type figure?

Yeah, the Kennedy stuff is why I assumed you were mostly a TV!canon kind of girl. It's hard not to love Jamie Bamber. I spent $20 for the most awful, trashtastic TV series about some kind of SAS team because he played the leader.

The best Hornblower/Bush stuff in the fandom is, by a long shot, [livejournal.com profile] thehappyreturn's. I can't remember if I've shoved her stuff at you before, but she's got an amazing rewriting of Lieutenant Hornblower which starts here, bawling emo alternate ending to Flying Colours, and modern AU set in the London art world. Bush versus art critics = good times.
