9. The scene where Rhodry won't apologize to his brother and gets exiled because of it. Ahhhhh. Crazy brothers. I almost wish that the Deverry fandom weren't me and all my imaginary friends because somebody, I swear to God, somebody would have written Maelwaeddcest, and I would hold it to my chest like the best present.
8. Nevyn asking Gwin a question about the other people in the party, and Gwin being like, "You want me to inform on them?" AHHHHHHHHHH THE HAWKS. THE HAWKS. THE RUNAWAY BOY, finding the assassin's guild and OMG. I wonder whether my googly-love for the Jedi Order doesn't come from, you know. The Hawks, in some small part. It's that theme of taking a boy and completely stripping his origins from him.
7. When Pertyc kicks in the gwerbret's head for killing his boyfriend. :>
6. The death of Gweniver and Ricyn. Tied, and pretty much the same as the bit I always cry at -- when Ricyn finds Dannyn with his throat slit on the hill. His brother's dun being the last thing he ever sees, OMG.
5. Holy shit, Maddyn/Aethan/that prostitute. Aethan, Aethan, Aeeeeeeeeeeeeeeethan and his little misogynistic black rages.
4. Rhodry naming his first-born son after Cullyn. There are no words.

2. Gwin's man-crush on Rhodry. I am still like "w.t.f." to Evandar and Rhodry doing it (WTFWTFWTF) at all, but I can bear it if I close my eyes and think about Gwin and Rhodry. If babel is reading this, she's laughing her ass off. Whenever we (attempt) to write something original together, I always suggest names like "Bob" or "Adam" and veto her interesting, ethnic or historic ones because I like them whitebread names, but oh Rhodry, Rhodry, Rhodry. You'd break every rule in the book if half of them weren't written because of you. <3 My first LJ name and online nick from now until eternity? Related to you. The first AIM name that I chose? Related to the Deverry books. My complete and rampaging love for a certain Alaskan male model? I did not realize it at the time, but coincidentally with the same coloring and physical build as you, O Gary Stu that I Loved Best.

wow, deverry stuff. i haven't read that in ages! i think i stopped reading the series at some point...the first few books really caught me, and then i lost interest for some reason. probably something to do with my junior year of college....

Rhodry's half-brother is named Ebany Salomanderiel tran Devaberiel. And it kind of amazes me that at 5AM in the morning, I could spell Devaberiel correctly. From memory. Without googling.

I like Kerr's book too, but the fans haven't mutated into a fandom because by *god* those books are tightly plotted. You couldn't find space to write a drabble, let alone anything else...

Yeah, Kerr does fill up the spaces wonderfully well, doesn't she? Especially now that she's fleshing out the storylines of Merodda and Maryn and Bellyra. And it's clear that the stuff she writes constitutes the high points of the character's lives, so it's hard to make mini-plots.

I was thinking last night, though, just how badly I wanted fic about somebody recognizing post-Westlands Rhodry. Yeah, I know, unlikely, but MAN. And all that time Gwin spent as a Hawk. And Cullyn Maelwaedd.
