The transfigured potatoes! The squid! And of course Maria's a Weasley; explains the super!ovaries.
Re: Slytherin, I think the backlash against that House is the result of the Riddle Effect. We know that Slytherin under Slughorn was very different than it was under Snape. But Riddle was in that House, he was very popular - he didn't have friends exactly, but he had a huge following, and of course he made use of them later, made it into a sort of Slytherin Pride club, milking his ancestry for all it's worth. And of course, the Voldy sympathisers passed their values to their children, along with the notion that if they don't end up in Slytherin, that would be a shame beyond imagination. To the outsider this looks like "He-who-must-not-be-named was from that House! And apart from a couple of others we'll conveniently overlook, so did all his followers! And the current lot seems rather shifty too!" Bingo, self-fulfilling prophecy.
As for the pureblood issue: yes, we know Salazar's thoughts on the subject, but notice that the Sorting Hat itself NEVER says that's a requirement. Ambition, yes. Cunning, yes. Wizarding family? Not a word.
One last thing: Fifth years take OWLs. The seventh years take NEWTs. Other than that, I can't find a fault with your crack!
