Iansmomesq pointed me this way. I'll have to send her a fruit basket. I love this. Nothing makes me happier than to see people take a truly cracktastic idea like this and do something with it that's so genuinely moving and gorgeous and somehow very very right.
Incidentally, I was listening to Placebo's cover of Kate Bush's "Running up That Hill" when I read this, and the song and the story worked so well together that I don't think I'll ever be able to play that song again without thinking of this. My point: 1) I'll be remembering this quite a bit, for I expect to have that song on heavy rotation for some time yet, and 2) if you've access to the song, try it with the fic.
So, yeah, hi! That little mouselike rustling noise you'll be hearing burrowing around in your old fic for the next few days is probably just me.
