Though very few Temeraire fans I know have commented on this yet (probably because most of the ones I know have come in through either sci-fi or other naval fiction, usually Aubrey), the prose is actually more Hornblower-ish than Austen-ish, or whatever she's been compared to. It's really quite a wonderful genre blend.
