I haven't read many of the newer Jedi Apprentice books, so I only know of the Tahl stuff by relation, but I did read 1-10 and OMG. Yes. As my rampant, undying obsession with the little triangle of relatoinships between Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and Xanatos suggests, I really, really, really love them. Little ragey Padawan Obi-Wan! Smooth, strangely sympathetic Xanatos! Bitter Bruck!
And ohhhh, at the heart of it, Qui-Gon. With his deep messed-upness. <3
Outside of JA, I've read mostly comics. Most Star Wars Ongoing, some Star Wars Tales, etc.
Kinsey is pretty awesome, man. You get a potential view of Qui-Gon as the social radical that you don't get to see much, and there are these moments scattered throughout the movie where you get to see Neeson make his character EXPLODE. He ROARS and unleashes the temper that I imagine Qui-Gon has to keep under tight leash, and it's a fic-inspiring sight to see.
What is Ducard like? *is, by the way, completely nonchalant about being spoiled, enjoys being spoiled for movies*
