So yeah, when he's well enough to try and get out of bed he might get handed a pair of trousers that are unequal in length. Or put on trousers with two full legs and one of them is all empty at the bottom and he has to tie the excess up in a knot to keep it out of the way.
I'm just keying in on fall front trousers because those are pretty typical undress pants and working pants at his point in time instead of the knee breeches.

I swear the best line to come into the fandom in ages was that one you wrote in Undertow about how if you want to have sex with Bush you touch some part of his uniform. That makes me go O.O every time with the trueness of that statement.
I also had a stray wild thought about that flannel nightshirt he's wearing during the carriage ride. Where the hell did that come from? Someone somewhere along the line had to be kind to him, probably because he was an officer. Because my guess would be that after the surgery he would have been left in his shirt as that garment was a multi-use sort of thing. Men also wore their shirts as nightshirts -- same garment. They period ones are actually quite long (coming above the knee) for that multi-use reason.
