Oh, oh, the heartwrenching moment when Archie realises how different (and fucked in the head) Horatio has become. And, I'm feeling pretty incoherent here so bear with me, but it also raises issues about how Archie can get something wonderful like his own ship to command (which seems like getting your own world) but at the same time see what command does to people, and how he probably would have given anything to be Horatio's Lt anyway. Gift horses, or something. And Bush is there to complicate things, because he's taken Archie's place.
I totally want to make a liitle montage clip for myself of all the bits where Archie is commandery in M/R, to combat the terrible weepyficArchie monster. The thought of how quietly proud and relieved he would have been on passing his examination for Lt makes me flail. <333
