It'd be lovely to see an Archie with all the scars of Mutiny/Retribution, yeah. I mean, if that sort of thing doesn't kill you, you really are going to come out tougher. And harder, which hurts my heart to think of, but I guess how much harder depends on how close the court martial would have been and how they got out of it without Archie saying that he pushed Sawyer.
Interesting, too, becaue a fic like this would have to show the choices that men make shape their lives. Like, they're all lieutenants together in Mutiny/Retribution. Bush is the senior, next Horatio, then Archie, but when they come together again, Horatio's going to be senior. Then Archie, probably, then Bush.
There's an image in my head now of Bush and Archie standing together either on Horatio's ship or on Archie's, and Bush is admiring the ship because she's lovely, sir, and Kennedy is watching Bush to see if Bush is jealous of Hornblower.
