I... had a bad experience with M/A. Found some skeery, skeery fics there and never went back. I generally stick to LJ in any case, because LJ is love. :D
Oh, yes. Aging fandoms have tons of cycles. Having been in HP twice, I can tell you even that one has its issues. And I do tend to read more of the new stuff, because I'm not sure where to start on the old stuff, like you said. I've been a fan since I was 3, but never joined SW fandom until canon was complete, because I'm that sort of pedantic person. XD
