This blend of Jedi-life details and characterisation is great.
It was hard for Anakin to learn finesse because finesse, as traditionally defined for the Jedi, required a capacity for weakness in the Force.
YES. I love that. And perceiving one's own weakness as helpful is not something Anakin could ever manage. And I think that ties in to having true compassion (for people you are NOT in love with, Anakin). And what better example could there be than when Vader kills Obi-Wan - who just really surrenders himself to the Force.
I like the characterisation of Obi-Wan, too. He tries, but he really doesn't get the...emotional truth of things sometimes. Unlike Anakin, he knows the technical things, the details, the strategy, but his gut feeling lets him down regarding other people.
Now, living on a desert planet, waiting for a sliver of a desperate chance, watching for the last creature that he still knew from his old life and loved in any genuine, personal way to disappear forever, Obi-Wan could only reject the notion of trusting and putting faith in the person.
:((((((((((((( I wonder if it would be part of Obi-Wan's own lesson in being able to go into the Force intact, that needing to let go of things - having to watch and let go of Qui-Gon like that. Ow.
