I agree it had brief, incandescent moments of win. It's just that the win was so swamped by the mediocrity of the rest of it. *grin* Plus, honestly, even though some of those images were gorgeous -- like Bond and Camille walking through the desert, disheveled and beaten-down, while in the foreground the Bolivian villagers scrabble for water -- it felt both too arty and too anvilicious. It's BOND, fer cryin' out loud...
I'm not saying I want a return to the cosmetically flashy, bad punning, ridiculous-gadgets-everywhere, who-will-Bond-bone-next old days. I'm just saying this was a big step down from the gritty, brutal, masterfully woven Casino Royale.
