As promised, Tony is largely self-sufficient. He is used to taking care of himself, it seems, and doesn't require getting out of bed most mornings, even if he's been out with Rhodey the night before. He wakes before the professor does. Showers. Puts on dirty clothes even though he has two dressers full of clean ones, eats a bowl of cereal, watches some morning TV, and is sometimes waiting by the door with a packed lunch by the time the professor is coming down the stairs, looking for the coffee maker.
Come second semester, when they've proven that Tony can handle more advanced work, the professor starts to suspect that Tony lies about how many classes he skips.
