The song is on my default playlist, and last week, in the throes of full-blown fandom crazy, I started obsessing about what a fantastic track this would make for an Iron Man vid. And then one of the DOOMTHREADS -- it is 4:30AM, and I am too brainfried to figure out where, even with Gmail's halfway decent search engine -- somebody mentioned wanting to see it. And uh. I was too tired to write tonight, so here! HAVE MY OBSESSION.

Started at 10PM or so of Friday night, finished around 4AM of Saturday morning. Not much in the way of movie-independent storytelling, which is probably why it came together so easily. It usually takes me about eight hours per minute, but I banged this together in way, way under that. Think more like a 5:20 recap of the movie than anything else.

the song is so perfect and the synching, omg! favourite part hands down is the shot of yinsen dying followed straight after by iron man landing with a thump in gulmira, gah, i love. i must now watch this another 45 times, brb.

AHAHA. Well. I haven't written fic in a while now, and we'll see if I ever get over the CRIPPLING ANXIETY caused by reading liviapenn and beta'ing (IE: pre-fangirling) obsession_inc, SO WE'LL SEE ON THAT END.

XD I'll admit to being pretty pleased with that snippet. And, if I may, I'd like to point out the little robot voice saying NEVER OVER. NEVER OVER. NEVER OVER. while Yinsen kicks the bucket.

I suspect this has already come up in the four thousand pages of meta y'all have apparently done about this, but one of the reasons I love this film so much is that it had this incredibly obvious metaphor in it that they basically jumped up and down going "this! this is a metaphor! over here look at the metaphor!" and because Obadiah was such a cuddly sociopath right up until you twigged that he was evil, you totally bought it. It's like the opposite of Spider-Man, where you just spend the whole movie going, "Peter Parker, step away from your boyfriend's dad. He has clearly been marinating in the crazy juice."

OKAY I'm sure you have the answer to this question somewhere up in that thread, and also you are a busy lady, but: "don't act like I never told you": Tony talking? Everyone talking to Tony? Both? Every time I watch it I change my mind because both are so awesome.

Seriously. I mean. All the reviews were like, OBEDIAH HAS EVIL TATTOOED ON HIS FOREHEAD. WELL, DUH. Uh. Yeah. I just must've missed the clue train because it just broke my heart when he was ebils. That scene when him and Tony are sitting around, eating pizza while Big Sis Pepper does her homework!

Sigh. I am just exceptionally gullible.

The section you're talking about is the one where Rhodey breaks up with Tony and Pepper breaks up with Tony and Yinsen breaks up with Tony and Christine's earrings dance, right? Yeah, i think it is. And in my head, the first "told you" is Tony -- "So, OK, when I bust out as Iron Man, you don't get to be like YOU NEVER TOLD ME!" And that one is supposed to symbolize how big and cool Tones thinks he is. And all the ones afterwards are people telling him some pretty harsh truths about the world.

So yeah, both?

It was probably because he was bald. The media is so prejudiced against bald people! Male pattern baldness is a very serious condition okay and these stereotypes do nothing but harm. But, yeah, pushingmetaphor gave me the complete plot breakdown beforehand and I was still surprised.

Ooh, awesome, that is pretty much how I was reading it only in much better words. So yay!

(*DYING* The image of Yinsen breaking up with Tony by getting blown up. "Oh god if we get out of this cage he will never stop following me around, like a drunken puppy with a car battery. i seriously watch this vid about 5 times a day atm. i keep finding new things about it to love, like the way the flags merging into tony's face synch in perfectly with the song, or butterfingers after he gives tony the old arc reactor. it's like all my new fandom squee is wrapped up in this video. and there's a lot of squee to contain in there. sometimes it spills out, like this:

Seriously, though, there is so much to love about Iron Man fandom right now. It's so busy! And there's so much good fic! And good meta! I walked by a poster for Charlie Bartlett and squealed to myself because, HELLO, ROBERT DOWNEY JR I DO LOVE YOUR WORK AS TONY STARK.

And your icon rocks my socks off. <3 I'm glad my vid is giving you joy.
