I mean. I can't even. My mind boggles. Suddenly, I want ten million stories about baby Tony being totally alienated even from other rich kids, because he's not just a rich kid -- he's a rich genius who'd been on magazine covers by the time he lost his first milk tooth. L
Did he go to school, or did he have tutors and just go to university classes at an abominably early age? Where did the Starks live? What steps did Daddy Stark take to Encourage Young Tony's Ability? What kind of horrifying, horrifying story can I come up with about one of the few times Tony remembers being picked up by his dad being when he fell asleep tinkering at the minilab his dad sets up for him -- the housekeeper has gone to bed for the night, and Tony has this memory of being picked up by Daddy Stark coming back from the office and dinner and drinks afterward and smelling a little boozy and like cigarettes and somebody's perfume and going up the stairs in Dad's arms with Dad singing a little to Tony and calling him Junior even though Tony isn't a Junior at all, but all quietly, so as not to wake Mom up?
GOD.
And. Yeah. I mean, the way that the movie puts it -- Howard was a legendary weapons developer, he was founder of Stark Industries, makes it sound like if there was new money-old money divide, Howard was new money. Or if they were both new money, and she was trying to make it in new money. Which, coupled with the way TONY NEVER TALKS ABOUT HER, makes Tony's so-new-money-it-hurts ways really interesting.
