GOD HE WAS A BIT OF A REVELATION AS WATSON, I CAN'T EVEN DEAL. ADRENALINE JUNKIE. FORGETTING HIS CANE, NOT EVEN LIMPING TO RUN AFTER A PERP, ABSOLUTELY GIDDY AND RELAXED AND NOT EVEN NEEDING HIS CANE WHILE WALKING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN AGES, HAVING A GIGGLE AND SNORT WITH HOLMES OVER THE MAN HE JUST SHOT. After Coulson started being her handler, the lab guys have noticed a trend -- subtle, since Natasha was never exactly emotive, but definitely there. Personality drift across editions, really, but she is getting more deadpan than ever. The one that they ship across to the Brits (along with Tony Stark's touch-screen technology) is the all-time prizewinner.

I love that the show is so deeply okay with the gay (what can I say; half of Holmes fandom is still in shock about the line from canon about Holmes ripping Watson's trou), and that it isn't that Holmes isn't deeply repressed gay, but he's just

IT IS A VERY ENTHUSIASTIC RECOMMENDATION. Because it's a lot of fun, and it's fun, and yes, it's some more fun. Especially if you love the original Holmes. It's ridiculously fulfilling to see Moffat come to some of the same crack theories as fandom has over the years.

Everyone in Holmes fandom seems to be extremely enthusiastic about this new series, but I still have to ask the Big Question:

But! But! But! A Watson without a moustache! Is this not a cardinal sin against canon?

I admit, I'm a bit twitchy about the concept of a modern day setting (and I'm inclined to blame Guy Ritchie's movie for this since it had too much boxing and not enough plot for my tastes), but since the general concensus seems to be: ZOMG! Squee! I may have to watch this.

AHAH. I completely failed even to think of the mustache because I was screaming too hard in the opening set about the gun in the drawer and they sent him to therapy and his freakishly neat and sterile little room. I love it so bad.

And yeah, he's a little skinnier and smaller than I imagine Watson to be? But I'll forgive it all for how lovely that framing shot of him sitting alone in his room. Oh man.
