You know how people say "oh, I don't usually like original female characters, but I loved ____" or "oh, I usually don't like Kennedy, but I loved ____"?
This is one of those rulebreakers for me. Usually, I'm not a fan of first time fic, nor am I, as a rule, a fan of AHHH I LIKE COCK WHAT AM I GOING TO DO stuff. It's sweet and thoughtful and funny and surprising. It's beautifully paced, smoothly executed, and oh, how I love her Bush. I love her Hornblower. This is better, dammit, than those fics that take a cliche and make it work in a new way -- this is the kind of fic that explains why why we fell in love with them in the first place.
