Honestly, the older I get, the happier I am to be rid of Facebook. I was one of the first non-Harvard students to have one, and I deleted it back in January 2013 in a fit of pique after getting a lecture from a long-time friend's (douchey, condescending, mansplainy, "he's Dutch so sometimes he's more abrupt because English isn't his first language") boyfriend for daring to complain about someone on my own account who was never going to see it or hear about it. Now I have no idea what former coworkers or classmates think about anything and my blood pressure is truly much better for it.
But I'm sorry this happened to you. It's always so beyond disappointing to find out that someone you love and admire very much and with whom you have a long history isn't the person you thought they were.
