Tony and Pepper dialogue is hard I haven't even attempted it beyond simple, two or three word exchanges. I'm putting together the Tony Stark Transcription Project to, uh, transcribe Tony and try to figure out his speech patterns?

I have to admit to watching the movie WAY TOO MANY TIMES to get the speech patterns figured out. Tony is actually easier than Pepper because Pepper has at least THREE DIFFERENT PATTERNS, one when she's all Miss Potts, Professional Woman where everything is very short, direct, and to the point, and one when she's nervous and starts talking with all these prepositional phrases stacked up on each other, and then one where she is FREAKING OUT and she is back to the short phrases again, but they're different than before. Tony at least just has the one thing he does, with the short phrase, short phrase, short phrase, more elaborate phrase, short phrase thing. I think.

Um. Is it odd that after reading a lot of fic I got confused about how often they actually DO call each other "Mr. Stark"/"Miss Potts" and had to go back to check? And actually wrote them all down? (They rarely call each other by name, and when they do, it's almost always first names, with the occasional "Potts" thrown in from Tony, and there are much, much fewer times with the Mr/Miss thing. I have concluded that it is entirely a foreplay thing for them. Which is still good!
