Yeah. As much as I love Jude Watson's take on Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, the more I think about her version of events, the less I buy it. I don't know how familiar you are with it, but a lot of it strikes me as the easy way out of dealing with why Qui-Gon is so prickly, why Obi-Wan is so needy, and why TPM happens as it does.

And giving Obi-Wan a late apprenticeship is crucial to her vision of it. Additoinally, it doesn't mesh, in my head, with how amazing and awesome and just brilliant Obi-Wan is during the later parts of the PT. How many Sith does he face down? How many Dark Jedi does he defeat? And what is he still known for? You don't get that good, that young, without being precocious. And I have a hard time buying that the Jedi don't recognize precocity.
