Yeah. Sharpe has Slytherin-esque qualities, but they're pretty clearly outweighed by his ideals about people and society.

It's more a question, I think, of what the dominant trait is -- Hornblower pursues being a Navy captain partially because it's his duty (Hufflepuff or Gryffindor), partially because it's intellectually stimulating (Ravenclaw), but boy oh boy, he loves the power of being a captain, and boy, he loves beating everybody and having them love him because he's the bestestest ever. For him, freedom is deeply desireable, and it's deeply tied up with being in charge.
