Things learned this weekend: many. Including that Bob Evans banana nut bread is v. good, that Diet Dr. Pepper is as good as advertised, that Betjeman and Barton tea is )(@*#)@(*# good, and that ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
phantomsangel gives the best directions ever. Seriously.
She also has ridiculously pretty eyes and OMGZ high tolerance for my flakiness. I'm planning to colonize her couch. :D
Our drinks and appetizer from Friday dinner:
Yes, that's a fandom dinner right there. It's all of Horatio Hornblower's bitches. I mean, it started when we walked into the restaurant -- I gave our name to the hostess as the Hornblower party. She was like "... what?" And I somehow managed to keep a straight face.
In the picture, on the right, that's a Captain Coconut Colada made with rum and MILKY WHITE. Then, there's the little short drink, the White Russian, which was super-strong and threatened to givephantomsangel typhus. Barbara is in the back -- crabs, you know? It was a crab-and-artichoke-and-spinach appetizer.
In the morning, we went to Bob Evans's.phantomsangel gave our party name as "Bush." She did no get so many funny looks, although oh my God, Bob Evans on a Saturday morning is so white.
The next night, aside from the land speed record that I set when I bolted for the pizza delivery guy, we stayed in. Between bouts of Horatio Hornblower porn, we we made hard tack. Yes, we did. And we decided to make it in the style that Horatio must have made it during that winter -- with love.
It's a little burned because I made it too thin. Shut up, because it does too look like a pineapple.
Really,phantomsangel did all of the hard work. She put the flour and water together -- it was kind of like Momma P Entertains the Wee Ones on a Rainy Afternoon By Making Playdoh. She measured out the flour and water, kneaded it, rolled it out, and did everything while I ran out going :D :D OMG I NEED BATTERIES FOR MY CAMERA MOMMA P GIVE ME BATTERIES :D :D Is it any wonder that in the middle of the rolling, she said something like, "God, I need some rum"?
Among other things, she made a little Loire love boat:
And I made the one-legged maker of the Loire love boat:
Please note the stoic, stolid expression. Note, too, that he has holes in his hands and feet. They weren't part of the original design. XD Neither were these SCARS FROM THE DASTARDLY SPANIARD REBELS:
I drove back today after a wonderful breakfast of CHOCOLATE CAKE and BRIDEZILLA, and guess what I made for dinner? Roast beef! To eat with my hardtack (I got the Hotspur biscuit, the Bush biscuit, and the Loire Loveboat. Bush and Loire loveboat are still in a ziplock bag. :D)
