don't you wish that I'd going back to shutting up?

I have just seen season 4 of the West Wing through "Commencement," and I deeply believe that Aaron Sorkin is the God of TV. No, you don't understand. I spoiled myself silly for this episode, and I was not only crying because I love Toby so much, but holy fuck, had active goosebumps when they shot a slow-mo running scene.

Aaron Sorkin is the God of TV.

Therefore, I write this completely bloodless ficlet about working at the White House.

Working at the White House pays all right for a government job. It pays very well, in fact, for a government job. It does not pay, however, as well as most people associated with the White House are accustomed to living: the President is a Bartlet of New Hampshire. Josh lives off the inheiritance that he has from his father, who was a equity partner at Debovoise & Plimpton, and Sam has savings from his time at Gage Whitney. To buy a million dollar house for Andy when he was driving a used Ford Taurus, Toby signed himself up for a series of lectures on the circuit. He'll do a little ghost-writing, too, and he goes to the house after the twins are out of the hospital.

Zoey is still missing; it is deafeningly silent in the suburbs, and it is raining a little. There is no furniture in the house, and Toby goes into the upstairs bedroom, sits down on the window seat that overlooks the garden. His pager is on; if they need him, they will buzz. If they find Zoey, they will buzz. If anything happens to the twins, Andy will buzz.

It is quiet, raining a little outside, and Toby sits in the master bedroom and looks at the empty closets in the house of dreams.
