I *heart* this idea and as I have said before, look forward to it when you are ready to write. :) Only suggestion--cooks are too busy cooking, preparing, getting food, etc. to take on duties of housekeeper, usually. :) (They have a little time to oversee the maids who wash the dishes and the pot or fire boy, who keeps the fires in the kitchen going, and feeds the dog that runs in a "hamster wheel" to keep the spit over the fireplace going.) Since there isn't a lady of the manor, the chataleine duties ought to go to a steward. Those duties would include overseeing the maids who clean the rooms, overseeing the head of the stable, keeping the accounting books, helping to or even running the manor farm lands, etc. . If you just want a housekeeper, she would oversee the cleaning maids, the laundry maids, the cook and her crew, i.e. just the servants inside the house itself. Hope this helps! :)
