Ahaha, yes. XD

I had the same thought about the ships. A sloop-of-war or a lower-rated frigate. I think he'd be a good captain. He's not squeamish over punishment and he respects the command structure unless he thinks it's full of crackpots/immorality/incompetence. I LOVE the bit in ?Mutiny when he goes below to yell 'You call him SIR' and save Wellard. And self-doubt isn't a hindrance to command -- Horatio's the best example of that -- but I think it would be a factor if he felt he didn't get there on merit, but on friendship.
