I don't know if you've gotten to Commodore yet, but there's this one bit where Hornblower is picking what captain he wants to command his flagship, and he think something on the order of, "Maybe there were smarter captains or more brilliant ones, but he could not think of setting to sea with them."

There's no way, as I see it, that he would've thought the first part of that sentence with Archie.

Also. Randomly. It just struck me, but Movie!Duchess and the Devil is kind of an interesting rewrite of FC with Archie in the place of Bush. Archie is even crippled in the legs like Bush is. *_*
