I swear I read something months ago that there is a 2 hour Sharpe movie being filmed in India, with Sean Bean. Obviously he's too long in the tooth to do Sharpe's Tiger, and I believe there was mention of an original script with Cornwall's involvement. But I haven't heard anything more about it, so don't know if it actually came to pass.

I checked out that fic. If there was more like that in the fandom I wouldn't run screaming into the night.
