oh Bush, baby. :/

Holy fucking Jesus Lord God. O.o I just looked at that section again and I can't believe that Barbara, in response to Bush's response to the "You're fond of him" thing says -- That is what I meant.

O.o Man. And you're right to point out that just because BARBARA means it that way doesn't mean that BUSH recognized it; that's one of the major objections, I think, because it doesn't feel like Bush recognized it that way. He'd be a little less rough-and-ready with his affirmations of total omgz true captain love if he took it that way, so yeah. You and [Unknown site tag] have to be right. Barbara had her fishing hat and creel out and was looking for some brown trout a la Brokeback Mountain.

*head wobbles*

What's interesting, then, if we choose to read it that way, is how Barbara's gaydar got et off. Sure, Bush is talking about how much he loves his captain, but he's not exactly gushing about him the way that you'd expect somebody to gush about their boyfriend to somebody who doesn't know about the relationship. And he's not even gushing about it the way you'd gush about a friend -- he talks about Horatio being Nelson, y'know? So.

What provokes Barbara into even considering that direction? Total random chance? Or is there something that she's seen, before, that makes her think? :> Things to ponder.
