I didn't know, but I'm not surprised. He seems to have such a handle on the mechanics of voice control or whatever the hell the proper term for that sort of thing is. <3 <3 <3 And Bush's drunken singing is one of my absolute favorite things about him, so now I get to semi-legitimately pretend that he has a lovely singing voice and that Horatio is v. v. v. fond of it even though he can't appreciate it in the least because, well, at the very least, whenever he hears it, it toally means that he is going to GET LAID and how.
And no, you're right. No mention of who had him before she swooped in WTF. And Bush and the assizes. And goddamn, why must the books be so effing fertile?
Am re-reading the first bit of SOTL, and God, how I love Forester! Horatio's mutterings about the boat and how he can't either afford or cozen paint. Bush, blue-eyed and smiling at the sight of Horatio and Horatio nursing his little mancrush and feeling guilty about the wholething. Them going down to deal with the women, and Bush's bellowing being of very little use and Horatio's amusement at how Bush gets flustered at the mostly-nakie women and Bush finally retreating into Navy-speak to deal with it all. Horatio's calculated kindness mixed with genuine kindness and. MAN.
