I read Garden of Prosperine, too (I've been lurking around Hornblower fandom for a while now, trying to get my bearings and driving all of my non-HH friends batshit with blather), and it completely mystifies me why there aren't 3948029384098 fics out there about all the insane, insane, utterly crazy in-the-woods sex that Bush and Horatio snuck off to have at night when they pulled on shore.
Plus. I'd love to see what Bush thought of Marie. Horatio seems to think that he managed to keep his affair with her on the down-low, but it, uh, also took him twenty years to realize that Bush knew the whole diffident captain thing to be a total act.
