I love these statements, if only for how you aren't backing away from Horatio's issues, while still wanting to write him. I tend to not see him as the naif that he often is in fanfic; I think that bookverse Horatio is very helpful (as opposed to movieverse Horatio) in not inspiring that sort of fanon.
