In a way, given how snarly and black and white QUi-Gon is right at teh start of TPM, I'm surprised that he managed to get to it, too, and without the benefit of eight jillion years of practice.


Qui-Gon certainly sounded grumpy and abosultist, but his actions were noticeably less so -- he was amazingly forebearing with Jar-Jar, considering what a screw-up *he* was.

Hmmm... you are postulating that Qui-Gon had someone whispering in his ear? And he didn't mention this to anyone because he didn't need to seem any kookier than he already did to the other Jedi?
