Assuming that you mean that yeah, society has shitty assumptions and not that we, fandom, have a tendency to give women character teh angsties XD -- yeah, I hear you. I started seriously thinking about this while reading wired_lizard's genderswap Avenger fic set in the seventies. The author does some lovely parts in there about overt sexism, and that got me to thinking about how different or how similar post-90s Tony would be.
Because yeah, we've come a long way from there, but just how far? Less than I think we have, I suspect, so the most intellectually engaging part of writing this, for me, was trying to parse out RDJ-played Tony Stark and locate what was white privilege, what part was male privilege, what was American privilege, what part was rich person privilege, etc.
the constant cuts, the repetition, the expansion, the nonlinear nature.
It's a good way to pad out a simple story. XD But yeah, I'm glad you liked it -- it's my default style, but I've never written anything this long or ambitious, so I was really worried it wouldn't fly. HURRAY!
